Against Tablets Personally, I believe textbooks are better than tablets. Unlike textbooks, tablets have a battery life of 7.26 hours, which will affect when and how long you use it. Additionally, tablets are horrible for a student’s health because the student will be staring at a screen for over 6 hours every day. Tablets are also more likely to be stolen than schoolbooks. We should stick to the old ways and keep using the good old textbooks. Throughout my lifetime, I found books more interesting and useful than tablets. I believe that books make one feel connected with the history of our people more than electronics can. As teenagers, I think we already spend enough time on electronics; there is no need to break our only communication with the past. I believe that using electronics for schoolwork will only support adolescents in keeping their eyes and minds glued to the screens. In conclusion, I think textbooks are better than tablets because electronics are more susceptible to theft, are horrible for a student’s health, do not have a long enough battery life, and support teenagers to stay glued to electronics. |
For Tablets Although textbooks are the traditional way of teaching students, I think that using tablets is a more efficient way of teaching. Firstly, tablets are beneficial to the school because they no longer have to worry about printing costs. For example, many used to print packets out for students. Whereas, now they send them the worksheets digitally. The school can also quit stressing about the students forgetting their homework at home. Tablets are not only helpful for schools, but also for the students. They are lightweight, while textbooks are heavy and bulky. It is easier to carry around a tablet, with books already downloaded than carrying a bookbag full of textbooks. I have two brothers who attend a school in which they are required to have an iPad. Both say that it is easier to go from class to class because they have all their books on their iPad. Although they do struggle with technical difficulties, they still find it easier without textbooks. Overall I think that tablets are better than textbooks because they are efficient and economical. |
